Teaching

As a teacher of literature, folklore, and the environmental and public humanities, I work with students to explore the intersections of place, environment, and social life as seen through a diverse range of perspectives. I have taught courses in composition, folklore, ethnography, Appalachian culture, Southern studies, American studies, speculative fiction, and interdisciplinary approaches to environmental storytelling. I am also interested in working with students to create interdisciplinary public and/or digital humanities projects.

I currently work with the Southern Futures Fellows and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to develop arts and humanities research projects that reimagine the future of the American South. The Undergraduate Fellows also develop partnerships across the university and wider region to creatively address challenges in southern communities through research, storytelling, and collaboration.
